TRAVIS - "Sing" Tablature
Official TRAVIS Tablature & Sheet Music »
PROPS GO TO: Anton S. Trees
Most of Travis' songs are a walk through the park on guitar; basically to get the rich, and let's face it, beautiful sound that the lads have, you need to get a band together and play a little. None of the parts are especially hard (though good luck finding someone who sounds anywhere near as good as Fran), but when combined, oooh, they sound NICE.
'Sing,' from their very nice album The Invisible Band, is no exception. It's an easy song to play, but to get it sounding good, learn some banjo baby, because with banjo it's bloody nice. The chords to this song are available at their site, travisonline.com (nice one boys, thanks) but they didn't go the extra distance and tell you where to play them. I've been nice and put them where they're supposed to go (generally). Basically, if you can't work it out using this as a guide you are: a) no good or b) uh, no good or maybe c) not a fan of guitar, and don't even have one. But for everyone else, this is an easy one and fun to sing along to.
Keep it real,

The same chords are played throughout the verses, with a few movements of the fingers now and then, i.e. Em is played 022000 and then 020000. Not hard. Am is augmented to A7 (that's 002210 to 002010 for ya').
Intro
Em A7/Am
(verse 1)
Em A7/Am
Baby, you've been going so crazy
A7/Am Em
Lately, nothing seems to be going right
Em A7/Am
Solo, why do you have to get so low
A7/Am Em
You're so...You've been waiting in the sun too long
(chorus)
G D Am
But if you sing, sing
Am G
sing, sing, sing, sing
G D Am
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Am G
Unless you sing, sing, sing, sing
(verse 2) - same as verse 1
Colder, crying on your shoulder
Hold her, and tell her every things gonna' be fine
Surely, you've been going too early
Hurry, cause no one's gonna be stopped (now now now now)
(chorus) - yep, same as above
But if you sing, sing
sing, sing, sing, sing
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Unless you sing, sing, sing, sing
(verse 3) - same as above (that's whacky!)
Baby, there's something going on today But I say nothing, nothing, nothing, Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing
(chorus) - Yes. The same.
But if you sing, sing
sing, sing, sing, sing
For the love you bring won't mean a thing
Unless you sing, sing, sing, sing
How easy is that?! Yes, I know, very easy. Have fun kiddies.
(Just to make it that much easier, I'll even tell you the chord shapes, because I remember when I first learnt guitar I didn't know them and it was annoying having to look them up in a book).
Am 002210
