Song: The Lifting, from the album Reveal.

This song is basically a piano playing, and an
annoying distorted/squelched guitar over it :)

Notice all the verses, choruses etc have the same
chords, so Ive only typed up an example of how to play
one of them, so just apply this to the other ones.

Verse:

[G] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [Dm] [G] [Dm]

[G] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]
[G] [Dm]

Chorus:

[Am] [G]
[Am] [G] [Am]
[G] [Em]

Pre-solo:

[C] [Dm] [G] [Am]
[C] [Dm] [G] [Am]
[C] [Dm] [G] [Am]
[Em]

Solo:

e-|----------------------------------------|
B-|----------------------------------------|
G-|-----4h5-s7------9-7s5-4h5p4------------|
D-|-5-7-------------------------7-5-7------|
A-|----------------------------------------|
E-|----------------------------------------|

e-|----------------------------------------|
B-|----------------------------------------|
G-|-----4h5-s7------15-12---13-10s8-6-8----|
D-|-5-7------------------------------------|
A-|----------------------------------------|
E-|----------------------------------------|

h: hammer on
p: pull off
s: slide

Notice the special effect on the guitar, which makes
a very "sliding" sound. If you dont have this kind of
pedal, you might want to play the solo on just 1
string where possible, to reach a similar effect.

Enjoy this lovely song from R.E.M.
