RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS - "Road Trippin" Tablature

Official RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS Tablature & Sheet Music »

Riffs xa are different endings. Just play Riff x but with
the ending of Riff xa.

The way you alternate Riffs 1 and 2 is given by a pattern.
In the first and second sentence of the verse, you use Riff 1.
In the third use Riff 2, and in the last use Riff 1 again.

Riff 1a is a different ending for the Riff 1 and it's in the
first sentence of some verses.
Start playing it from the chord "C"

So the final pattern is:
-Riff 1a
-Riff 1
-Riff 2
-Riff 1

Got it? It's not that hard
It's also above the lyrics if you don't get it

Riff 1

Em C B
E-----3-----3---3--------------------
B-------0-----0---------5---4----4---
G-------------------------0----0-----
D--2--2---2--------------------------
A--------------------3--3---2--------
E------------------------------------

Riff 2

E-----3-----3---5-3------------------
B-------0-----0---------5---4----4---
G-------------------------0----0-----
D--2--2---2--------------------------
A--------------------3--3---2--------
E------------------------------------

Riff 1a

E------------------------------------
B-----5---4----------4---------------
G-------0----0-----0-----------------
D------------------------------------
A--3--3---2-----2--------------------
E------------------------------------

Riff 3

E--0------0-------------------------------7-----7------
B-------1-----3--------3---5--------5-------8-----8----
G-----2--------------0------------0-----------7-----7--
D----------------(0)----------(0)-------0--------------
A--0----------2------------3---------------------------
E------------------------------------------------------

This riff above is barely audible sometimes, especially the note
between parenthesis. Maybe it's not played at all, but I've
tabbed it because this is the note that should be there,
if there really was one.

Don't cut the sound of this riff, keep all the notes sounding,
even when you move your hand. That way you'll get the real
sound of it: there's a slide from E to G (B string, 5/8 )
there's a slide from D and down (G string, 7\ )
I think that's what John plays, because it sounds neat

Riff 3a

E---------7-----------
B-----8-----8---------
G-------7-----7-------
D--0------------------
A---------------------
E---------------------
Riff 3a is also a different ending for Riff 3, and you'll see when
to play each, above the lyrics.

This is kind of a solo (Riff 4, Riff 5, Riff 4, Riff 5a)

Riff 4

E-----------------------------------------------
B--8------8---5------5---5------5---7------7----
G-----9----------5----------5----------7--------
D-------9----------5----------5----------7------
A--7----------0----------3----------5-----------
E-----------------------------------------------

Riff 5

E-----------------------------------5------5----
B--8------8---5------5---5------5------4--------
G-----9----------5----------5------------5------
D-------9----------5----------5-----4-----------
A--7----------0----------3----------------------
E-----------------------------------------------

Riff 5a

E--5----5----5---/--------11-\--8-\--5-\--2-----
B-----4----4-----/--13-\--10-\--7-\--4-\--1-----
G-----------------------------------------------
D--4----4----4---/--13-\--10-\--7-\--4-\--1-----
A-----------------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------------
Riff 5a starts at the ending of Riff 5. You'll easily notice when.

End of solo

Riff 1b

E-----3----3---3------------------7-------------
B-------0----0-------5----4---4/8---------------
G----------------------0------------------------
D--2--2-----------------------------------------
A-----------------3--3----2---------------------
E-----------------------------------------------
This is played in the verse after the solo. It's a little variation,
but it sounds good.

Riff 6

E--3-------3-------3-------3--------------------
B------0-------0-------0------------------------
G-----------------------------------------------
D----2---2---2---2---2---2----------------------
A-----------------------------------------------
E-----------------------------------------------
