I know that a lot of people think that this song´s intro (and verse) is played by guitar but I can tell you it isn´t. The bass did it and the guitar produces effects and sounds in the background. I have seen some live videos with Flea playing the intro. If you guitarists out there want to play it, too – no problem. I figured out nearly everything but I know there are always a few mistakes. If you have corrections, comments or you just want to tell me that you´re going to kill me soon, e-mail me: flooos@gmx.net
Bass Intro
G-2---------------------------------5------------------------------
D-2----------------3----------------5----------------5-------------
A------x-x-x-x-----3----x-x-x-x----------x-x-x-x-----5----x-x-x-x--
E------------------------------------------------------------------
Flea plays this 2 times and during the verse. The third time Athony comes in with the vocals: "I´m an ocean in your bedroom..."
After Anthony has sung "...now we know it all for sure" the guitar starts with this riff till the end of the vocals.

G------------------------------------------------------------------
D------------------------------------------------------------------
A------------------------------------------------------------------
E------------------------------------------------------------------
"I´m a dancehall, dirty breakbeat..."
65 times the 5th fret of the B string (you can also hit the open e string if you want. I think this is what John does when he plays live, but it sounds cleaner to hit the e on the B string). I think that should be correct. You also can play the note as often as you need it.
First Bridge:
It´s played very fast while Flea continues his riff. Play 2 times
(Sounds a bit like palm – muted, but I don´t think so. Just tap and pull off).
e--------------------------------------------------------------------

G--------------------------------------------------------------------
D--------------------------------------------------------------------
A--------------------------------------------------------------------
E--------------------------------------------------------------------
The verse continues with the 5th fret of the B string hit very fast (look above) during the bass riff (I don´t know how often Flea plays it, maybe he plays variations, I´m no bassist but I was told that there has to be a very good bass tab of this song).
After this, resume the bridge 2 times when Anthony sings "I´m the rainbow in your jailcell..."
Chorus:
A7 Am A7 Am A7 Dm
"Stairways falling..."
The effect John uses sounds like reverb (I have tabbed this song on my acoustic but I know the sound of most of the effects). Play the chorus with bar chords (John Frusciante´s way). It was very hard for me to figure out what is played, I suppose there are some differences
between my way of playing the chorus and the way it is really played but it doesn´t sound very wrong.
Second Bridge:
e-------------------------------------------------------------
B-5-7-8—-55555555-5-5/7-8-55555555-5-7-8-7—8-7-5—-5-7-8-7/5---
G-------------------------------------------------------------
D-------------------------------------------------------------
A-------------------------------------------------------------
E-------------------------------------------------------------
I´m not so sure about that but it can be a base for another tabs.
Play again the guitar verse riff (open e or 5th fret on B)when vocals start ("I´m an inbrace and a pothead...")as often as needed.
Continue with the first bridge 2 times when Anthony sings "I can show you to the free fields...". When you have finished the verse play the whole chorus 2 times. Now start the solo.
Solo:
e--------------------------
B--------------------------
G-14--12--9--14-12-9—12---- 8 times
D--------------------------
A--------------------------
E--------------------------
I strongly believe that the last 12 is played.
Flea plays the bass riff 2 times till the guitar comes in with the 5th fret on the B string f***ing often and the first bridge 2 times.
The ending is played by bass.
Hope you like my version of Don´t forget me . Maybe try other solutions for the second bridge.
