Subject: TAB: Robert Plant - 'Promised Land'
The way I've tabbed it is the easiest way I can
think of to play this song. I believe that the
actual recording has a capo on the first fret.
Or, since every song on the entire tape seems
to play a little bit above standard tuning, they
may tune a little higher--I really don't know.
The tab is shown for playing w/o the capo, if you
use the capo, just pretend the first fret is zero.
Play with or without a slide, whatever floats your
boat (I can't play slide worth a damn.)
The capo should be good enough to play with the
recording. To just jam without the recording leave
everything open. BTW, I'm not even going to try
to transcribe any of the harmonica parts over to
guitar. Enjoy...

Play riff 1, riff 2, riff 1, riff2 followed by a few
strums on a G5 chord (355xxx)
Then, throughout the sound in various places with other
stuff in the background (synthesizers, harmonicas, etc.)
the following is an approximation of the bass line:

Also in the background is occasional short appearences
of part of a different G5 chord (xx00xx). Listen to the
recording if you want to try to throw those in. Those
eventually lead into the following:
Lead in Riff 3

Then play riff 3 again and really hold on to that last
vibrato, almost trying to push it to feed back.
Then you can go back to the bass line until right before
the next verse starts when you can intro with:
E-|-----------------|
B-|-----------------|

Then you can go back into the bass line, and then experiment
with this little lead lick that gets thrown in:

G-|------------------------3--5b7rb5p3p0---3vbbb(5)--|
D-|--------------------------------------------------|

After that, there is nothing that is really new (just listen
to the recording to get the exact locations of everything).
What I have already given you should cover everything but
the solo.
Here is my feeble attempt at this solo: (I think a little echo is
mixed in with it)

By the way, the 't' in that is for tremolo picking (just pick as
fast as you can through it). As far as that second to last line of
the solo goes, I'm sorry it sounds so wrong. If anyone knows something
that sounds better (wouldn't take much I presume) either post it or
send it to me. I'd appreciate it.
Questions, comments, additions, and corrections are always welcome.
Have fun with this one.
