Over the Rhine
Happy With Myself?
From the IRS album 'Eve'
Tab by Ryan Wise (wise@lclark.edu) using QuickTab 1.1.
The Explanation:
I've provided a basic outline of the song, chords, lead lines, etc. It's
broken down into about four parts.
1. Rhythm Figure 1 is the opening acoustic figure. The same chords continue
when the band enters, but with a different rhythm. You can use your
imagination here and come up with your own rhythm, or listen to the
recording several times.
2. Lead Figure. This is the lead figure played right when the band enters.
The guitar sounds like it's being sent through a leslie or a tremolo pedal.
When Karin sings, the rhythm changes so the downbeat falls on the beginning
of the figure, rather then at the top note. You'll probably have to listen
to the record to understand.
3. The verse lead. This is repeated throughout the whole verse, by the same
guitar as the chorus lead; i.e, just segue right from the chorus to the
verse. This is my best guess as to what's being played, as my ears were
straining to hear what I've tabbed.
4. Rhythm Figure 2. On the final chorus, at approx. 2:54 into the song, the
key changes from A major to G major. Rhythm Figure 2 is the old chorus
figure in the new key, which lasts through the end of the song.
After all that is the lyrics and chords so you can follow along, and figure
out what you don't understand from my cryptic instructions.
