Song: Hello
Artist: Oasis
Album: (What's the Story) Morning Glory
Transcribed by: Jim Ferraiolo (jmferraiolo@hcacad.holycross.edu)
Hi all. This is my third song that I have transcribed off this great album.
It's one of my favorites, and it's a great opening track to what's probably
the CD of the year, in my opinion (still waiting on the new Smashing
Pumpkins double album though!). I hope you enjoy it, and if you have any
comments/corrections you'd like to make, please feel free to send me a
bit of mail. At this rate I should have an entire album transcription done
pretty soon!
Repeating riff in the verses
Am C
e---------------------------
b--1---1---1------1--1------
g--2---2---2------0--0------ (This riff repeats 3 times, on the fourth)
D--2---2---2------2--2------ time, after the C chord, add:
A--0---0---0--0---3--3------
E--------------------------- E------0--3---0--3---------
Just repeat this during the verses. I think it's pretty close, you might
want to try C powerchords, or something.
[Verse with main repeating riff]
I don't feel as if I know you, you take up all my time
The days are long and the nights will throw you away coz the sun don't shine
Nobody ever mentions the weather can make or break your day
Nobody ever seems to remember life is a game we play
[Prechorus]
E5 Am F G5
We live in the shadows and we ...
[Chorus]
Please note that the B and A are played as single notes, NOT chords. If
you play them as chords, it sounds like crap, so make sure you play the
C chord and then slide up to B and then pluck the open A string.
C B A
And it's never gonna ...
F G
Coz the years are falling ...
C B A
And it's never gonna ...
F5 G5
Till the life I knew comes ...
(riff)
Hello
[Verse 2, same riff over it]
There ain't no sense in feeling lonely, ....
[Prechorus + Chorus are the same as above, words and chords]
F5 G5
Hello...
Am
Said it's good to be back, ...
(This repeats a few times and the song ends on the Am)
If you feel like a solo break at any point during the song, A minor
pentatonic is a fine choice, and if you've got a wah-wah pedal, let it
shine. I saw Oasis play live, and all Noel uses is a wah and a Boss
digital delay.
