it's not too hard, and the only trouble i think you might have is either
going to be jangling the G-F# right (which takes practice) or dancing
like dave while playing this (which takes skill ;} ).

much of this is just what the other guy (95jds@williams.edu (Jon Stahl))
wrote, i just added the rest of the lyrics and the chords over them.

i can also hear a second guitar, playing just D-G/G-D on the verse
part, and i've seen the "all the ants are marching" section written
out as bass triads; G (3 2 0 x x x) D/F# (2 0 0 x x x) E (0 2 2 x x x).
it sounds good either way to me and in the end it's up to your ear.

At the warehouse
At the warehouse
How I love to stay here
At the warehouse
Every man and woman

SAX SOLO (continue CHORUS progression)

That's our blood down there
Seems poured from the hands of angels
But trickle into the ground
Leaves the warehouse bare and empty
My heart's numbered beat
Still echo in this empty room
Fear wells in me
But nothing seems enough to defend
So I'm going away

@pay for what you get
-------------------------
From: snazaria@twain.oit.umass.edu (Steven E Nazarian)

Here's the tab and words to this sweet song off of
"Under The Table And Dreaming" by DMB. Use your fingers
and slap the tops of the strings after each chord for
percussion (Listen to the song to get the timing right!)

"Pay For What You Get" - Dave Matthews Band
-transcribed by Steve Nazarian-
(snazaria@student.umass.edu)

TAB:

(h) - means hammer on
(v) - means vibrato

INTRO:

e|--8(h)10--8-------------------8(h)10--8------------------8(h)10--8--|
B|--8(h)10--8-------------------8(h)10--8------------------8(h)10--8--|
G|--------------------------------------------------------------------|
D|-------------7-7-------5-5-5-------------5--5--5--7--7--------------|
A|-------------5-5--8-8--3-3-3-------------3--3--3--5--5--------------|

A|--5-8-3-3-3--------------3-3-3--5--5-------------5--8--3--3--3--5--|
E|----6-----------------------------------------------6--------------|

VERSE: This part is repeated several times before leading in
to the chorus (Again, just listen to the song...)

G|---------------5(v)----5---------------5(v)----5---------------5(v)--|

CHORUS:

A|---------------3--3---8--8----------------3--3---8--7--8--7--|
E|-------------------------------------------------------------|

BACK TO VERSE AND SO ON:

This is essentially the whole song (There are a couple variations
to these parts but nothing you can't figure out easily enough by
ear if you have to...) It would be a waste of time to write the same
parts over and over again (OKAY SO I'M LAZY!!!)

WORDS:

Work ourselves, fingers to the bone
Suck the marrow, drain my soul
Pay your dues, and your debts, Pay your respects
Everybody tells you You pay for what you get

Everybody asks me how's she doing
Has she really lost her mind?
I said, I couldn't tell you I've lost mine

Words, words, words, have you heard
A bird in hand is much better than
Any number free to wander Fly away...
Stay You pay for what you get

Everybody asks me how's she doing
Is she really all she says...
Everybody asks me how's she doing
Since she went away
I said, I couldn't tell you, I'm okay

Surprise, surprise
You pay for what you get
You pay for what you get

Everybody asks me how's she doing
Has she lost her...
Everybody asks me how's she doing
Since she went away
I said, I couldn't tell you, I'm okay, I'm okay
How are you? Pay for what you get
Pay for what you get... oh...
Pay for what you get
Pay for what you get... Oh...

********************************

so here's the breakdown: i went i d/l-ed all the DMB songs from UTTAD cd
and put them in one file, whatever wasn't done, or i thought was done
poorly, or could be done better (such as "what would you say?" or "ants
marching" i redid totally, keeping the style the original poster had.
there are minor edits, such as "satellite", where i removed the part that
said you needed string skipping (in the tab) and just put it in so it was
all on the bass strings of the guitar. all the songs are here, but some
are more complete than others, and i left both versions of "jimi thing"
in because they're different ways to play it, and it's really up to you.
some songs need obvious work (like my versions of "lover lay down" and
"#34") and i invite whoever is reading this to take a crack at it, or add
to the other songs, such as putting the lyrics over the tab to "pay for
what you get," or anything like that. all the tabs are credited,
including mine, but if you find your tab has been butchered and/or your
name is not on here, and it should be, write me and i'll fix it.

happy pickin'.

oh, and be nice to other people --they outnumber you 5.5billion to 1.

-d.
