Simple Creed - Live ft.Tricky
Written by Ed Kowalczyk
From the album V

I've transcribed this song for two guitar parts. One guitar
can improvise in the verse while the other plays the D riff.
Guitar 2 plays the main riff and the chorus riff in
dropped-d down half a step. I'll write out guitar one's part
first and then I'll do guitar two.
Guitar 1 - Adam/Ed - dropped down half a step
Guitar 2 - Chad - dropped D down half a step
Guitar 1 - Verse
|heavy palm muting|

Gb|-----------x-5-/-7-7-x------------------------------|
Db|---7-\-x---x-3-/-5-5-x------------------------------|

Guitar 1 - Prechorus
eb|----------------------------------------------------|

Db|--3-/-5-5-5-5---3-/-5-5-5-5-------------------------|
Ab|--3-/-5-5-5-5---3-/-5-5-5-5-------------------------|
Eb|--1-/-3-3-3-3---1-/-3-3-3-3-------------------------|
*listen to the cd for exact timing
Guitar 1 - Chorus
D Am C G
During the Tricky spoken bit, both guitars just play heavy palm muting.
I play it by putting my fret hand totally over the neck at around the 12th
fret and using the fat end of my pick to strum the strings. It sounds alright.
Here is Chad's part.
Guitar 2 - Intro/Main Riff
eb|----------------------------------------------------|
Bb|--3--3--------------------3--3----------------------|
Gb|--2--2--------------------2--3----------------------|
Db|-------2-h-3-p-2------------------------------------|
Ab|------------------3--5---------2-h-3-p-2------------|
Db|------------------------------------------5--3------|
Guitar 2 - Verse
For the first part of the verse, guitar two plays the main riff and for
the second half, Chad plays some sliding notes. You can basically play anyting
here and it will sound alright just along as guitar one is playing their
verse D riff. When ed sings, "Now nobody's takin your candy", I play this
and it sounds alright:
|heavy palm muting|
eb|----------------------------------------------------|
Bb|----------------------------------------------------|
Gb|----------------------------------------------------|
Db|--0-12-\-x-14-\-------------------------------------|
Ab|--0-12-\-x-12-\-------------------------------------|
Db|--0-12-\-x------------------------------------------|
Guitar 2 - Prechorus
eb|----------------------------------------------------|
Bb|----------------------------------------------------|
Gb|----------------------------------------------------|
Db|--3-/-5-5-5-5---3-/-5-5-5-5-------------------------|
Ab|--3-/-5-5-5-5---3-/-5-5-5-5-------------------------|
Db|--3-/-5-5-5-5---3-/-5-5-5-5-------------------------|
*listen to the cd for exact timing
Guitar 2 - Chorus riff
eb|----------------------------------------------------|
Bb|----------------------------------------------------|
Gb|--12--11--9--5-----5-h-7-/-9-\-7-5-7----------------|
Db|----------------------------------------------------|
Ab|----------------------------------------------------|
Db|----------------------------------------------------|
Guitar 2 - Tricky bit
Play this by holding your fret hand over the 12th fret and with heavy
pick scratching and echo effects.
eb|----------------------------------------------------|
Bb|----------------------------------------------------|
Gb|----------------------------------------------------|
Db|-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\------------------------|
Ab|-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\------------------------|
Db|-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\-x-\------------------------|
Chad then plays something like this in the second half of the tricky part.
When Tricky sings, "But you're always, walking hallways", try this:
eb|----------------------------------------------------|
Bb|--10--12--13--15--17--19--20------------------------|
Gb|----------------------------------------------------|
Db|----------------------------------------------------|
Ab|----------------------------------------------------|
Db|----------------------------------------------------|
That's basically it. After the tricky bit, you play the prechorus twice and
play out the chorus. I know the tab is very, very vague but improvise where you
see fit.
