***COMMON CREED*** By Wes King

A couple of things before we start here. One, This is not a note for note
transcription of the tune. This is the way I heard it and adapted it. I did
not tab every strum, because most people can get that from the recording.
This is my version, but I think it's a good one, and pretty close in some
areas. If you play this along with the tape it will sound "right". At times
the mix was such that I couldn't quite hear the guitar, so necessity
dictated that I "fill in the blanks". CAPO AT THE 4TH FRET. Don't try to
play this as written without a capo. :) Enjoy...I also did not try to name
every last chord, as I am too lazy to, if you really want to know 'em, e
mail me, and I'll write you with them.

The 4 is the capo. Have fun.

This is the way I figured out the main riff Riff A, at the beginning. The
first chord shape is a D, but being as this is capoed, we are now playing a
F# major chord. Use your pinky at the hammeron.

--6-h-9--7----4--4-4--h-6----- Repeat. Listen to the recording to hear
--7------7----7--7-7----7----- how he strums it. This is just the
--6------6----6--6-6----6----- chords he's using as he plays
--4------4----4--4-4----4-----
------------------------------
------------------------------

Optional: The second guitar plays this at the same time at the end of the
riff

-------------------------------
------------------6-6-h-7------
------------------6-6---6------
------------------4-4---4------
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

As he sings "It's a call to love.." I played it like this. The third chord
is F#major with an added G# or a F#add2 chord. I don't know if he used this
but playing with the recording, it worked, and playing it solo worked for
me too.

--6------------6-----6----6----
--7------------7-----7----7---- Rhy Fig A
--6------------6-----6----6----
--4------------4-----6----4----
-------------------------------
-------------------------------

Now I can almost promise you I hear a second guitar low in the mix at the
same time, that or keyboard. Whatever the case, I hear it going from a
F#major to F#major7. You can pick and choose what you like best, or
alternate 'em, it works regardless. If you can hear what I'm talking about
on the recording, listen for how its played. These are the chords:

F#maj F#maj7

-6---------------6-------------
-7---------------6-------------
-6---------------6-------------
-8---------------8-------------
-9---------------9-------------

Bmaj7 is an open Gmajor 7th shape except played with a capo at 4th fret. C#

open A7 shape.
D#m7 is played like this:

----6--------
----7--------
----6--------
----8--------
----6--------

Verse 3 lyrics.

It's a call to arms, it's a fight of faith, sound the alarm, no time to
lose no time to wait, in this war for the soul of man

same prechorus as before.

chorus

Bridge: Not positive about these chords, tried to follow melody.
feel free to help me correct em if I'm wrong...couldn't hear em in the mix.

D#m C# B?? G#m? B
I believe in God the Father, Jesus Christ His only Son, I believe

C# D#m C#7
there's only one way to the Father by grace thru faith alone

If anyone is lost here please e mail me and I'll see if I can help you with
it. It's different tabbing when a capo is used.

Peace,
