Tabbed By: Christian Estrera (jujango@yahoo.com)

Tuning: Drop-D (D A D G B E) (Low to High)

Intro & Chorus:
e:------------0---(let ring)--------------------------------(0)--(let ring)--------------
B:-----------(0)--(let ring)---------------------------------0---(let ring)--------------
G:---------2-------2/4---4/7----7/9---9/11\7---7\4---------4------4/7---7\4---4/5\4\2-2--
D:-----------------2/4---4/7--- 7/9-- 9/11\7---7\4-------4--------4/7---7\4---4/5\4\2-2--
A:---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
D:-------0--(let ring)-------------------------------------------------------------------
Verse:
Fool around with arpeggiating these 2 chords. It sounds like Mike is just messing with
these two chords, and using some distortion coupled with some reverb.
e:---------0---------0---------
B:---------0---------0---------
G:---------7---------4---------
D:---------7---------4---------
A:---------5---------2---------
D:---------0-------------------
Here is one way Mike improvises with these two chords:
Let each note of the arpeggiated chord ring
e:---------------0-------------------------------0--------------------------
B:-----------------0-------------------------------0------------------------
G:-------------5-----5-------------------------------4----------------------
D:-----------5---------5-------------------------------4--------------------(REPEAT)
A:--------------------------(5\2)-----------2----------------(2/5)----------
D:---------0----------------------------------------------------------------
Pre-chorus:
e:---------------5------------5-----------------3------------3--------
B:---------------8------------8-----------------6------------6--------
G:---------------7------------7-----------------5------------5--------
D:------5-5-5-5------5-5-5-5-----------3-3-3-3------3-3-3-3-----------(REPEAT)
A:------5-5-5-5------5-5-5-5-----------3-3-3-3------3-3-3-3-----------
D:------5-5-5-5------5-5-5-5----(5\3)--3-3-3-3------3-3-3-3----(3/5)--
Solo:
e:----19--17--14--12--10------------------------------------10-12-10~------
B:------------------------12^-10-12~------------------10-12----------------
G:------------------------------------9-11-9~----9-11----------------------
e:----10-12-10-12-14~--------19-17-14-12^-10---------
B:-------------------------------------------10~-----
The Arpeggiated Ending Chord:
---0---------------
-----0-------------
-------2-----------
---------2---------
-----------0-------
-------------0-----
My 2 Cents:
The Pre-Chorus was rather hard to deciper, even though it's merely 2 chords. But the idea
for the Pre-Chorus is pretty close. For the solo, you can vibrato and bend any note and it'll
still sound beautiful. For the arpeggiated ending chord, be sure to gradually strum toward
the bridge to get THAT sound. Notes in parantheses sound great when played. Like many other
Incubus songs, use some phase, flange, chorus, distortion, etc. to your heart's content.
This song resembled "Stellar" in some way. So I went on this assumption when I began tabbing
"Echo." I figured "Echo" out on acoustic guitar. If someone comes up with an acoustic guitar
arrangement for "Echo," PLEASE post it.
Feel free to email me with questions, comments, and even criticisms.
