HUNTERS AND COLLECTERS - "holy grail" Tablature
Official HUNTERS AND COLLECTERS Tablature & Sheet Music »
Holy Grail - The Hunters and Collectors.
This is a great tune from the album ' Cut ' and is a sensation when the
Hunter's play it live. This is my first
attempt at tabbing so if you find fault be kind.
Here is my interpretation of the tune, the chords sequence might be out a
tad as I tabbed it on word 6 then a cut and paste to Eudora which played
havoc with the spacing, when you listen to the CD you'll be able to work out
the changes
The guitar is tuned to the standard EADGBE
Tabbed by Derek Rogerson
Chords used are :
E - 022100
A - 002220
C#m - 446654 or if it is easier 002120 ( but not as nice sounding )
B - 224442
D - 000232
And this is it.
INTRO :
E/A/C#m/B x2 ( if anyone knows the piano bit please add it )
Verse 1 .
E A C#m B
Woke up this morning from the strangest dream
E A C#m B
I was in the biggest army the world had ever seen
E A C#m B
We were marching as one on the road to the holy grail
E/A/C#m/B
E A C#m B
Started out seeking fortune and glory
E A C#m B
It's a short song but it's one hell of a story
E A C#m
When you spend your lifetime trying to get your hands
B
On the holy grail
E/A/C#m/B
A C#m B
Well have you heard about the great crusade
A C#m B
We ran into millions but nobody got paid
A C#m B
We raised four corners of the globe for the holy grail
E/A/C#m/B
E/A/C#m/B
Verse 2. ( strumming and chord pattern the same as the first verse )
All the locals scattered, they were hiding in the snow
We were so far from home so how were we to know
There'd be nothing left to plunder when we stumbled on
the holy grail
( then back to A/C#m/B )
We were full of beans, but we were dying like flies
Those big black birds, they were circling in the sky
And you know what they say, no body deserves to die
( play this bit a tad quieter, or pick the chords )
B E
But I
D C#m
I've been searching for an easy way
A E
To escape the cold light of day
D C#m
I've been high and I've been low
A E
But I got nowhere else to go
E/D/C#m/A/E ( x2 )
( brass solo )
( in live versions extra lyrics are added here )
( then back to the verse chords and hit the first few hard )
E/A/C#m/B
( then to )
A
I followed orders
C#m B
God knows where I've been
A
But I woke up alone
C#m B
All my wounds were clean
A
I'm still here
C#m B
I'm still a fool for the holy grail
E/A/C#m/B
( then smash your guitar on the amps and throw your pick and empty stubby of
VB into the crowd and
shout )
" Thank you very much, goodnight woooh "
That last bit was my own idea and not to be at all associated with the
Hunters and Collectors who I'm sure
are fine gentlemen none the less
