The Same Old Rock
=================
[intro]
Em7(1) ||: Em7(1) Am(2) :|| repeat twice
Cmaj7 B11 Em7(1) Am(2) Em7(1) D Em7 ... G
All along the ancient wastes the thin reflections spin
(G) C D G
That gather all the times and tides at once we love within
C D G
That build the edges round the shrouds that cloud the setting sun
D G D G C D G
And carry us to other days and other days to one
D C G C D G
And full the single stillness of the mirror that is made
C D G
By each and every one of all the colours in a shade
C D G
Inside each eye is sitting like the sword inside the blade
D G D G C D
And longs for once upon a chance to open loves cascade
D C G C D G
For here we stand hand to hand
D
Fighting for the promised land
G D C G/B Am Em D
G G/F# Em7... Em7(1)
And you try to tell me with consternation
Am Em7
That you have found me a brand new lock
Cmaj7 B11 Em7(1)
Then you try to warn me that there's only one combination
Am Em7(1) D
One new sling the same old rock
(D) D11 Em7 ....... E7
There was a famous stragler stood on the edge of time
Emaj A D A
Who held the staff but did not feel the pain
G D A E A
He multiplied the mystery with utterance sublime
D A
And crossed his heart for those who died insane
G D A E A
His friend a restless mouthpiece seven thousand years of age
D A
Trends to flash a face to shape his ways
G D A E A
Everlasting light is burning bright inside his cage
D A
He's only got to breathe to fan the blaze
G D A E A
Such a groove to have him here on board her ladyship
D A
The man who makes his living out of bed
G D A E A (diminuendo...)
Such a gas to see him flying through his ceaseless lip
(no chord)
One day someday soon he'll lose his head
G D A E A
And withering in the galleries with eyes fixed on the door
D A
Are who and you and me and thanks a lot
G D A E A
And those who see but cannot stand to walk on any floor
D A
For fear that good is something bad is not
G D A E A
But loud and clear is the call
D
In black and white across your wall
A
And Damn it all man
E7
Can't you see?
A
D A E7 A A/G A/F# Fmaj7.... Em7(1)
And you try to tell me with consternation
Am(2) Em7(1)
That you have found me a brand new lock

NOTES
=====
I'm not at all sure what the best way to convey some of the twiddley
details is, but I'll try my best to do it in TAB...
The usual TAB notation, plus: ^ = down strum, v = up strum (which
looks backwards until you think about it...) and -> = hammer on or
pull off (the direction should be obvious), __ = slur (slide the notes
smoothly together). Timing is whole beat ticks under the TAB.
