Official GRATEFUL DEAD Tablature & Sheet Music »
China Cat Sunflower by The Grateful Dead (Garcia\Hunter)
Originally from the WB release "Aoxomoxoa"
Alrighty--Besides having some of the coolest lyrics of any Dead tune,
China Cat Sunflower has a delightful, lilting lead rhythm that is very
simple to play. Here she is:
Intro and verse: *****************
e---------------------------------------------------|
B---12------12h13-15--12-13p12-------------------18-|
G-12--12-14---------12---------14-16h17-19-16h17----|
D---------------------------------------------------|
A---------------------------------------------------|
E---------------------------------------------------|
Add little hammers\pulls slides as you please to avoid monotony,
and this tune is a joy to play. Newer guys may find it easier to play
the part in *s like this:
e----------------13-|
B-12h13-15-12h13----|
And the rest of the tune like so:
G F
Look for a while at the China Cat Sunflower,
G F
Proud walking jingle in the midnight sun.
G F
Copper domed bodhi drip a silver kimono,
F G F
Like a crazy quilt stargown through a dreamlike wind.
G F
Crazy cat peeking through a lace bandana,
F F
Like a one eyed chesire like a diamond eyed jack.
F G F
A leaf of all colors plays a golden stringed fiddle,
F G F
To a double "e" waterfall over my back.
G F
Comic book colors on a violin river,
F G F
Crying Leonardo words from out a silk trombone.
F G F
I rang the silent bell beneath a shower of pearls,
F G F
In the eagle winged palace of the queen, chinese(?)
--All barred chords, A and E form really, have fun!
