Artist: Flickerstick
Album: Welcoming home the Astronauts
Song: Lift (with love we will survive) (tab)
Tabbed by: Brannon McConkey (musicman_16@msn.com)
This is all my own work (personally transcribed)
I reccomend buying this cd if you don't already have it. It's
a wonderful pop rock cd. The riffs are awesome, yet simple.
Now with this song, Cory (lead), uses a few effects it seems. I =20
am not exactly sure what they are. But it could be just that he
layers his guitar, so it has a milti layered sound. Rex (rhythm)
just doubles up his rhythm probably. It has a real dirty sound =20
almost. I won't have every little lead fill tabbed but Cory =20
plays around in the same area w/ slash riffs as I call them.
Basically just single notes repeatedly hit. Enjoy!
Standard tuning (E)
Chords used: (power chors) [A F# G] [D D/C# E(7th) D]
Lift:
Opening + verse: (Bass guitar + guitar feedback)
Bass:
|----------------------------|
|----------------------------|
|-----7--5---4-2-------------|
|-5---------------0---5------| Just listen to the time feel
Same for verse: " Lift up your head..focus.."
Chorus break:
Guitar 1 (rex)
|----------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------|
|--7-7-7---4-4-4--5-5----------------------------------|
|--7-7-7---4-4-4--5-5----------------------------------|
|--5-5-5---2-2-2--3-3----------------------------------|
repeat that 'G' chord a few times
and then back to the 'A' chord
Guitar 2 (cory) (not sure about the effect---use vibrato)
|---10-10-10---9-9-9---7h9-7h9-7h9-5-5-5------|
|---------------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------------|
e|---10-10-10---9-9-9---12p10p7~--12p10p7~----|
e|---17bs-17-17--12-12-12--10h12-10h12-10h12-9-9-9|
e|---/7-7-7--5-5-5--5h7-5h7-5h7~--5----5~~~-------|
b|-----------------------------------5------------| =20
That's repeated on the second chorus break
After the second time, there is a "post chorus/ending" section
The chords change
Ending part:
Guitar 1 (rex)
|---------------------------------------------------|
|---------------------------------------------------|
|---7------sustain this--7------same---9------7-----|
|---7---~~~--------------7---~~--------9--~~--7-----|
|---5--------------------4-------------7------5-----|
|---------------------------------------------------|
=20
while: "and it's oooof the g-roun-d.."
Guitar 2 (cory...once again this is lead.Use sustain as much
you can. This is really more of a continous
solo w/ a few fills. Every note is not
tabbed..but the jist is)
Fill 1 comes in on top of rex
solo: listen for when to come in
|-------------------------------------------------|I use
|--------------------------------10---------------|the bars
|--6h7~~~~~--7-11-|12-11-|9-7~~----11|-9-7|-------|to note
|--------------------------------------------9-7--|a pause
|-------------------------------------------------|in the
|-------------------------------------------------|picking
continued:
I'm pretty sure he uses a wah here
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|-------------------------151515--101010-Repeat-a-few-times|
|--------------7|--9~~~------------------------------------|
|---------7|-9---------------------------------------------|
|--9-7|-9--------------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
continued:
then I think it does this... something like this =20
|-------------------------------------171717----------------|
|-----------------------------/151515-----------------------|
|-7-9-11-12-11-9-11-12...etc--------------------------------|
|-----------------------------------------------------------|
|-----------------------------------------------------------|
|-----------------------------------------------------------|
That '15/17' part is done a few times
>From here he does a few things different (which I will show)
but constantly moves around. Some times you can't hear it.
I won't tab all of it. It is the same things I have already
tabbed. Just play around with it from what we already have.
continued: (with a few off parts that fade, etc.) rep
this part
|------------------------------------------------------17--|
|--------------------------------------------------17bs----|
|-7-9-11-12-14-16-18-19---7-9-11-12-14-16-18-19-21---------|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------------------| =20
then this
|-------17---17-19-17--17---17-----------------------------|
|--17bs----17--------19---19-----------14-15|--17-15-rep---|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
|----------------------------------------------------------|
Fill 1 is:
e------------------------------|again listen to the
b------------------------------|time feel...
g-/6-7-9-9--7-7~---------------|
Then it just repeats some of those parts and fades. That's =20
basically it. Cory does a few other things but they are just
repeats of what he already did. Just listen to all of the parts
so you can get the time feel. You'll know when to come in. I
hope I have helped any of you. Remember the sustain and vibrato
w/ some distortion to mimic the sound as closely as possible.
Music key:
/ Slide up
bs Bend slightly
~ Sustain or vibrato
h Hammer on
p Pull off =20
If you have any questions/comments/insults just e-mail me.
Hope you enjoy! =20
