Two basic chord progressions in this one:
Em--C--D--Dsus4 for the verses
Am--C--D--Dsus4 for the chorus and the "Lines are forming..." part.
THE UNDERTOW
Em C D Dsus4
Bring back the innocence lost
Em C D Dsus4
It may be later than you think
Em C D Dsus4
There's new places to explore
Em C D Dsus4
But the old ones return tomorrow
Am C D Dsus4
Lines are forming all around
Am C D Dsus4
Here them cry out above our heads
Em C D Dsus4
Divide the years apart
Em C D Dsus4
The past will crumble like a shell
Chorus: (use the same Am--C--D--Dsus progression as above)
I'm being tempted hear the call
Try to be careful and I don't know why
One hundred years maybe more
I'm being tempted and I don't mind it
(Resume the Em--C--D--Dsus4 progression for this verse)
Waiting patiently, walk over to the window
Then you look away, can't see no accidents
Waiting endlessly, it will be easier and
We will be together, just another test
Like any other test
Chorus: (Am--C--D--Dsus4)
I'm being tempted hear the call
Try to be careful and I don't know why
One hundred years maybe more
I'm being tempted and I don't mind at all
(Back to the verse progression)
And it all comes down
As you wait for the change
You've known all along
But you're waiting alone
For the moment to come
And you hear the call
And you hear the call
And you're waiting alone
Pretty simple, but a real nice little song.
Peace,
Ben McTernan
