PROPS GO TO: Rami
Title: Hotel California Artist: The Eagles Tabbed by: Rami Hey this is how I like to play Hotel California. The intro and solo certainly aren’t standard, but neither is the song when it’s played live. I like the way this sounds. It’s really tabbed for classical guitar, and that’s why I have the solo as just various arpeggiated chords, being that it’s tough to bend 3 or even 2 frets on a classical. First off, the chords used: Bm: 799777 F#: 244322 A: 577655 E: 022100 G: 355433 D/F#:200232 (it can be difficult to barre quickly on the 10th fret on a Classical. You can always use the alternate D barre If you want.) Em: 022000 Intro (fingerpick): Bm F# e|---------------7---7----------------------------2---2--------------| B|-----------7-----7-----7--------------------2-----2-----2----------| G|-------7-----7-------7-----7------------3-----3-------3-----3------| D|---9-----9---------------9-----9----4-----4---------------4-----4--| A|-----9-----------------------9--------4-----------------------4----| E|-7--------------------------------2--------------------------------| A E e|---------------5---5----------------------------0---0--------------| B|-----------5-----5-----5--------------------0-----0-----0----------| G|-------6-----6-------6-----6------------1-----1-------1-----1------| D|---7-----7---------------7-----7----2-----2---------------2-----2--| A|-----7-----------------------7--------2-----------------------2----| E|-5--------------------------------0--------------------------------| G D/F# e|---------------3---3----------------------------2---3--------------| B|-----------3-----3-----3--------------------3-----3-----3----------| G|-------4-----4-------4-----4------------2-----2-------2-----2------| D|---5-----5---------------5-----5----0-----0---------------0-----0--| A|-----5-----------------------5--------0-----------------------0----| E|-3--------------------------------2--------------------------------| Em F# e|---------------0---0----------------------------2---2-------------2| B|-----------0-----0-----0--------------------2-----2-----2---------2| G|-------0-----0-------0-----0------------3-----3-------3-----3-----3| D|---2-----2---------------2-----2----4-----4---------------4-----4-4| A|-----2-----------------------2--------4-----------------------4---4| E|-0--------------------------------2-------------------------------2| During the verses, you can choose to either arpeggiate the chords or strum them. I prefer a strum, because I do variated arpeggios for the solo. Verse 1: Bm F# On a dark desert highway, cool wind in my hair A E Warm smell of colitas, rising up through the air G D/F# Up ahead in the distance, I saw a shimmering light Em My head grew heavy and my sight grew dim F# I had to stop for the night Bm There she stood in the doorway; F# I heard the mission bell A And I was thinking to myself, E 'This could be Heaven or this could be Hell' G Then she lit up a candle and she showed me the way D/F# Em There were voices down the corridor, F# I thought I heard them say... Chorus: G D/F# (strum a few D/F#’s) Welcome to the Hotel California F# Such a lovely place (such a lovely place) Bm Such a lovely face (such a lovely place) G D/F# (strum) Plenty of room at the Hotel California Em Any time of year (any time of year) F# You can find it here Verse 2 (Same as 1) Her mind is Tiffany-twisted, she got the Mercedes bends She got a lot of pretty, pretty boys, that she calls friends How they dance in the courtyard, sweet summer sweat. Some dance to remember, some dance to forget So I called up the Captain, 'Please bring me my wine' He said,'We haven't had that spirit here since nineteen sixty nine' And still those voices are calling from far away, Wake you up in the middle of the night Just to hear them say... Chorus (same) Welcome to the Hotel California Such a lovely place (such a lovely place) Such a lovely face (such a lovely face) They livin' it up at the Hotel California What a nice surprise (what a nice surprise) Bring your alibis (bring your alibis) Solo: I just re-pick the intro, but do it about 2x faster. You can screw around and arpeggiate chords as you wish. It’s your song. Verse 3 (same) Mirrors on the ceiling, The pink champagne on ice And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device' And in the master's chambers, They gathered for the feast The stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax,' said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave Outro: I just like to do a funky strum on the verse chords. Somethiing like: Bm e|-7-x-7-x-7-7-7-7----------------------------------------------------| B|-7-x-7-x-7-7-7-7----------------------------------------------------| G|-7-x-7-x-7-7-7-7----------------------------------------------------| D|-9-x-9-x-9-9-9-9----------------------------------------------------| A|-9-x-9-x-9-9-9-9----------------------------------------------------| E|-7-x-7-x-7-7-7-7----------------------------------------------------| Or whatever you want it to be. Just be original. I mean if people wanted to hear the album version they’d pop in the CD.
