I get a kick out of this version--not only because I enjoy the song, but also
because, at the end, when Dave, Santana, and Tim are jamming (dance, dance,
dance!), Tim totally blows Santana's guitar solo out of the water. It's pretty
funny. I mean, I like Santana and everything--I think he's a good guitar
player--but I also think his most recent stuff is overrated. Almost all he ever
does on his latest album is pluck not-particularly-impressive leads around pop
songs. It's sort of irritating.
First, Dave:
Chord Definitions
Gm - 355333
D/A - 5x77xx
Cm - x35543
Bb - x1333x
(G) - 3xxxxx \________ The parentheses are supposed to indicate that only the bass note
(A) - 5xxxxx / is played.
For the chords Gm, Cm and Bb, Dave sometimes just plays the power chords,
but I'd recommend playing the barred chords for a fuller sound when playing
solo.
Intro:

Santana:
-------------------------------------
-----------------------------6-------
-----------7--5-----------------8----
--5--7--8--------7--5--7--8--------7-
-------------------------------------
-------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
-------3/5-3/5--8--7-----5/7-5--------------
-7-7-8-----------------8--------7-5-5-5-4-7-
--------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------
Every day, every night, you alone, you are the love of my life:
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
------------10--8-----8--7------------------------
--7--8--10---------7--------5--5-5-5-8--7--5--5---
--------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------
The stuff he does in the verses is pretty much entirely improvisational, so it would be really,
really annoying to tab out. I'll leave that ridiculous task up to someone more anal than myself.
Here's the lick that Santana plays at the end of the song (and integrates into his solo, as well):
---------------------------
---------------------------
------------5-----5--------
--5-7-8-7-5----7-----8--5--
---------------------------
---------------------------
Or, an octave up:
---------------8------8---------
--8-10-11-10-8----10-----11--8--
--------------------------------
--------------------------------
